What a nice story. Department of amplification: Portland audiences saw Evelyn Cisneros dance here in the late eighties during Ballet Oregon and Eugene Ballet's collaborative seasons, in a production of Cinderella in the title role. I was just starting to write for the Oregonian and had those unspeakable same night deadlines--copy had to be in by 11 pm and I remember asking Dennis Spaight, then a.d. of Ballet Oregon, when the performance would end. "Oh Martha," he said. "I can see you now, dashing from the Civic to the Oregonian building and losing your slipper as you dash." Ballet Oregon used to dance Caniparoli's Street piece as well, a nice, witty choreography Portland Ballet's young dancers will perform well I'm sure.
